Custom fan made game. What makes it unique is that it is entirely open world - there is no main story and you're free to play however you want. It's almost like a Pokemon version of Skyrim. You can choose to start your adventure in either Pallet or New Bark Town. But from there, where you go is up to you. HM traps, plot-based roadblocks, and other obstructions have all been removed, leaving the whole map open for you to explore from the start. There's even a bridge added so you can travel straight from Johto to Kanto (or vice-versa).  RTC on this cartridge is static. However, each time you start the game you are able to set the clock to change the time.

There is minor trainer customization (appearance and starting town) and you can tackle all 16 gyms in any order. Gym leaders' levels and team compositions will scale up based on the number of badges you have. After you've conquered them all, you can re-battle them at whatever 'badge scale' you wish, to take on their strongest or weakest teams. You need a total of 8 badges (any 8) to challenge the Elite Four.

This game's open world mechanic is so enjoyable and so freeing. I can only compare it to the first time I played Skyrim where I could go anywhere do anything and yes sometimes I got throttled for it. This game does not throttle you the balance based on gym badges is nice and refreshing. Top five roms plus I am sure this open world theme will inspire many in the future to use it.

    Fantastic Experience

I made a large purchase of 15 titles, this one included. One title arrived without the latest version update, and when I reached out to inquire about a potential exchange, I was met with super efficient and phenomenal customer service. I couldn’t be more pleased with Retrogamersus and am looking forward to another purchase in the future. Until then, I have plenty to enjoy in the meantime. Thank you for everything!

I can see what all the hype is about!

To be honest, my experience with Pokémon games like this goes back to Pokémon Uranium, and a few others. I had heard about this game, and decided to hold off until a more "complete" version was released. This is it, and it's worth the wait/hype! Disclaimer, I did get an odd message when booting up the game that gave me doubts (I won't share what it said because it might be intentionally left in for some reason), but those doubts subsided once I started to play it.
